UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals in the focus at SDU

At SDU we want to teach the young people of tomorrow to create value, not just for Denmark, but for the global community. New initiatives will give them an overall focus on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Two new initiatives have already started

Smart charging for electric cars

Establishing Living Lab for a new, smart control system to charge electric cars.

Changing to electric cars

Exchanging SDU’s vehicle fleet to electric and/or hybrid cars.

Both initiatives build on the carpeDIEM project’s initiatives. Within the next weeks electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will be installed at SDU Sønderborg offering staff to recharge their EVs. The charging infrastructure serves as a living lab for research & education. Firstly, it will be used to draw society’s attention to the challenges related to electrifying the transportation sector. Secondly, it will be used to showcase approaches to integrate charging infrastructures into the supply grid without overloading the grid, if several EVs are charging simultaneously.
