  • Digital Teaching and Examinations (as of March 24, 2021)

In the Summer Semester of 2021, digital courses will have priority...

In the Summer Semester of 2021, digital courses will have priority. The perspective plan (German only) specifies the earliest date for possible adjustments. With very few exceptions, the exams in April must also be held digitally. Examiners can obtain information about low-threshold options from the Center for Digital Teaching ("Zentrum für digitale Lehre").  Please inform yourself in the Lernraumkurs " Zentrum Digitale Lehre" and in open, digital office hours every Monday at 09:00 and Wednesday at 13:00.

Generally, the following framework applies to digital teaching:

If courses are held online, "live" elements may only be recorded if all participants agree. This should be checked at the beginning of a lecture (that involves discussion). There is no such thing as a "right" to record. However, it is recommended to do so. Lecturers can decide if they make such recordings generally available in the Lernraum (not elsewhere) or only in exceptional cases, for example if a student falls ill.

In general, online courses can not be compulsory for students. However, with practical courses/ internships and seminars the situation is different. If the internship or seminar takes place digitally, but "live" at the time scheduled in the timetable, the participants are obliged to attend (digitally). Appropriate consideration must be allowed for technical (connection) problems and Corona-related difficulties.

If, for example, a laboratory practical course can only be partially offered digitally in this semester, the department or the head of the course may find a way to recognize the digital elements that have already been completed when the practical parts are made up at a later date, and thus to recognize the overall performance as a single examination performance.  This should be discussed with the lecturers.

Theses may be submitted in digital form. The printed form must then be submitted at a later date. The colloquium can only take place after the written version has been submitted.

The "Corona Statutes" form the framework for teaching and exams in the summer semester of 2020. The Vice-President for Studies and Teaching will answer general questions on this subject; specific questions should be addressed to the respective Chair of the Examination Committee of your department.

Information on the subject of examinations can be found in a separate section on this page.

    Help for Lecturers

The ZDL (Center for Digital Teaching ) advises and supports lecturers/ teachers and members of all departments with the implementation of digitally supported forms of teaching/learning from a technical and didactic point of view in the context of face-to-face and online studies (VFH). The offers include teaching impulses, training courses and workshops as well as individual (media-) didactical consulting and coaching for lecturers as well as support in media and video production.

Please inform yourself in the Lernraumkurs " Zentrum Digitale Lehre" and during open, digital office hours every Monday at 09:00 and every Wednesday at 13:00.

Examinations whose content relates to the Winter Semester 2020/21 or a previous semester are subject to the following regulations:

    • If an examination has to take place digitally or if the type of examination is changed due to the Corona pandemic, students may take one free shot at the exam.S
    • For students who care for / look after children under the age of 14 and whose learning or examination situation is significantly impeded due to the closure of schools and day-care facilities, any examination taken and not passed in the Winter Semester 2020/2021 will be considered a free attempt. The possibility of an extension is currently being examined.

The free-shot rule (as mentioned above) also applies to examinations in April that are related (content) to the Winter Semester/ earlier. Further free attempt regulations for the summer semester have not yet been decided.

Details can be found in the Corona-Hochschulrechtsergänzungsverordnung §5 (supplementary Corona regulations concerning universities)

  • Null-Semester (as of March 24, 2021)

The Summer Semester of 2020 and the Winter Semester 2020/21 are considered to be so-called "Null-Semester".

The Summer Semester of 2020 and the Winter Semester 2020/21 are considered to be so-called "Null-Semester".

This affects regulations concerning the regular time of study, i.e. it doesn't count as a regular semester for the BAföG calculation or for the exam deadlines. This allows universities and BAföG offices to react quickly and unbureaucratically and help the students.

Examination results from these semesters are not affected.

A decision regarding the Summer Semester 2021 is still pending.

If you test positive for Covid-19, please notify the Public Health Department first and then the university. If you test positive it is incredibly important to minimize your movement and exposure to others.

    Students:

Please contact us at corona-meldung(at)th-luebeck.de. Please also inform us about all on-site courses you have attended.

    Employees:

Please contact Human Resources at personal(at)th-luebeck.de. The same applies if symptoms start to appear during office hour while on site.

University members with illness symptoms of unclear origin are advised to stay away from the university for 24 hours. We do not recommend that relatives of individuals with symptoms remain at home - if necessary, the Public Health Department would order a quarantine.

  • Exams at TH Lübeck (as of March 24, 2021)

According to the latest state regulations, face-to-face examinations in April must generally be cancelled.

According to the latest state regulations, face-to-face examinations in April must generally be cancelled. It is not yet possible to predict how examinations will be held at the end of the semester.

About 90% of the exams were converted to digital formats during the Winter Semester 2020/21, and only about 8% had to be postponed.

Information regarding the exams can be found in the Lernraum. The department of Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration has informed students by e-mail. If you are studying in this department and have not received an e-mail, please contact the examination office.

At the same time, the state decided to make things easier for students: On Saturday (23.01.), the new "Corona-Hochschulenergänzungsverordnung" (supplementary regulations for universities) came into effect that contain important regulations e.g. on the standard period of study or on the free attempt.

We have prepared a handout (English/German) for students who are being tested in presence due to the exceptions listed below.

Rough overview of the current regulations on possible exceptions

    • Presence exams may still be held if the student is in the last semester before the final exam (according to the curriculum) and would otherwise lose a semester until graduation.
    • Final colloquia may be held if the same conditions apply.
    • Other forms of exams are also only possible if it would cause an unreasonable delay to the completion of the studies. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider individual cases of hardship concerning exams.

We are all aware that this might lead to difficulties and concerns for many of you. We will try to work it out together.

  • Small-Group Work (as of March 24, 2021)

The university buildings are still closed to the public. Therefore, group workstations cannot be made available.

  • Cohorts (as of January 8, 2021)

The creation of cohorts is currently not allowed.

The creation of cohorts is currently not allowed.

The creation of cohorts allowed us to offer face-to-face teaching in fixed groups, even if the minimum distance rule could not be observed during the course. This is not possible at this time. Cohort arrangements cannot be used in examinations either.

For all courses etc. at TH Lübeck, the minimum distance regulation and the mask mandate, as well as all other regulations, apply.

By forming cohorts we are able to offer more teaching in attendance. You can only be part of one cohort at a time, not several cohorts. Whether you are in a cohort will be communicated to you by the head of your course. The maximum number of people per cohort is limited to 40 as of November 2nd.

    • Members of the same cohort may suspend the minimum distance regulation (and only with members of the same cohort).
    • You must wear a mask
    • Outside of class, all rules including minimum distance and the mask requirement apply to members of cohorts as well.
    • All other hygiene rules apply as well: Before entering the seminar room, hands must be washed. If you experience any signs of illness, please stay at home!
    • There is no compulsory attendance during regular events. Please clarify possible exceptions (e.g. presentations of seminar papers, etc.) with your instructors.
    • Specific regulations will be issued by your instructors.
    • If one person from a cohort gets infected with Corona, the entire cohort must go into quarantine. This means that each and every one of you is responsible for observing the hygiene rules not only for yourself but also for your fellow students - on campus as well as in your private life!
    • If there are problems with the implementation of the Corona regulations, please contact the Clearingstelle of your department. Contact details and all further information can be found at www.th-luebeck.de/coronainfo.
  • Contact Tracing (as of October 22, 2020)

For each course the contact details of all participants will be recorded. Ideally, you provide both your e-mail address and telephone number. At least one of those is required. In addition, we ask that you enter your contact information in your profile in the Lernraum under "Optional Entries" so that we can reach you in case of an emergency/ for contact tracing. Please check your e-mail accounts regularly!

  • On-Site Teaching (as of March 24, 2021)

Teaching in presence will remain suspended until at least April 19th, with very few exceptions. The “Hochschulen Coronaverordnung” of the state of Schleswig-Holstein (Corona regulations concerning universities) sets the basics for teaching operations during the pandemic.

    • If you do not have to work on-site, you have to work from home.
    • Further arrangements are decided in consultation with your superior who also serves as your contact person, e.g. which tasks are to be carried out in the home office.
    • Access to your office/workplace is still ensured.

Your Duties (You are not on leave):

Please send your request to cancel an already approved vacation in writing to the head of Human Resources, Ms. Hartkopf, by e-mail, stating the reasons and any supporting documents (e.g. proof of cancellation of the trip). A mouth-and-nose cover (MNC) / mask must be worn at all times

    • On the premises and in front of the buildings of TH Lübeck
    • In the buildings of TH- Lübeck.

During teaching and practical courses, a mask must be worn by everyone at all times. Teachers are exempt from this obligation, but only if they maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from other people throughout the entire course. The federal government has proposed the use of qualified masks. At this time, we do not have any information on whether this will also be implemented at universities. We will report back as soon as we have any further information.

    Exempt are:

    • Students and participating third parties during exams, as long as a minimum distance of 1,5m is observed.
    • Employees who work in areas with regular public traffic, provided that they have reached their workplace and that a minimum distance of 1.5 m to other people is maintained or that the possibility of infection is reduced by suitable physical barriers.
    • Employees that work in areas without regular public traffic.
    • All members of the university who wish to stay on campus must bring their own mouth-and nose cover (MNC). The MNC must meet the requirements of § 2 para. 5 of the State Regulation for Combating the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, i.e. cover the mouth and nose in such a way that the spread of droplets and aerosols caused by coughing, sneezing, or speaking is reduced. Covering your mouth and nose with a hand or arm, using a mask with an exhalation valve or the use of a face shield is not sufficient.
    • Work at TH Lübeck as well as all courses, examinations and practical training are subject to the "minimum distance of 1.5 meters" rule between participants, which must also be maintained during breaks. An exception are the so-called cohorts, within which the minimum distance may be reduced during selected on-site events.

What can educational institutions, explicitly universities, do against the spread and the societal risks posed by the "Covid-19" pandemic? How can they use their resources (multifunctionally)? These questions are to be addressed with the help of the non-profit project "University X Corona". Students as well as scientists are called upon to generate ideas, approaches and solutions for the different challenges posed by the pandemic.
