MOOChub.org grows with new partners

MOOChub.org is a German-language collaborative platform for free online learning opportunities, co-founded by the TH Lübeck subsidiary oncampus. Since its founding, the platform has been evolving: with new partners, new design and new functionalities.

MOOChub, an initiative of various online learning platforms, MOOC portals, universities and university-related associations in German-speaking countries, continues to grow. More than 550 free online courses are already bundled on moochub.org today. Founded in 2015 by TU Graz with iMooX, TH Lübeck with its subsidiary oncampus, and the Hasso Plattner Institute (Potsdam) with its portal openHPI.de, the MOOChub network experienced a significant expansion as early as 2019 with KI-Campus (BMBF) and OPEN vhb (Virtual University of Bavaria). In the meantime, further partners have been acquired: The platform now also includes courses from openSAP, LERNEN.cloud and the eGov Campus.

Inviting design, improved usability

The aim of the collaboration is to exploit synergies in the field of online teaching and to provide all those interested in education across university and national borders with central access to open online courses, whether for work, study or personal development. University knowledge on a wide range of knowledge issues is freely available on MOOChub, offering lifelong learning for all. Topics include IT and innovation, e-government, digitization and schools, and also the breadth of their subject canon represented by universities and colleges, such as medicine, law, humanities and social sciences, engineering or natural sciences.

The MOOChub offering can now be used even more conveniently via the newly launched website in a modern responsive design. The new site also offers enhanced filter and search functions and optimized menu navigation. The improved display on mobile devices also makes mobile searching and finding easier.

Free teaching and learning materials

The partners are also working on joint exchange and quality standards, are in collaborative contact with European partners, and fundamentally support the idea of Open Educational Resources (OER). "Not only the Corona crisis has proven how important freely accessible and openly licensed digital learning and teaching opportunities are. In the MOOChub network, we have long been convinced that the future of the knowledge society depends essentially on transparent exchange and low-threshold access," says Martin Ebner, Head of Teaching and Learning Technologies at TU Graz, in his role as MOOChub spokesperson.
