Information on German language proficiency examinations
According to § 40 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 Higher Education Act of the federal state Schleswig-Holstein, all applicants with foreign university entrance certifications have to submit a proof of sufficient German language skills as part of their application. Approved are language certificates according to the framework for studying at German universities (Rahmenordnung über deutsche Sprachprüfungen für das Studium an deutschen Hochschulen (RO-DT)):
- "Zeugnis der Deutschen Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber" (DSH 2 or DSH 3),
- Certificate "Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache für Studienbewerber" (TEST-DAF) issued upon successful completion of all four sections of the TestDaF exam at TestDaF level 4,
- Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz (DSD, German Language certificate by the office of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the federal states in the Federal Republic of Germany) on Level II,
- Exam to assess the qualification of international student applicants for entering studies at universities in the Federal Republic of Germany (Feststellungsprüfung).
Applicants with one of the following certificates do not need to submit the above mentioned language certificates:
For refugees the same admission requirements as for international applicants apply.
The application procedure runs via the page "Uni-Assist" >>>to the Uni-Assist application procedure
Applicants without any school leaving certificate have to pass the TestAS assessment.
Please note that TH Lübeck does not evaluate the application documents of international students and refugees for admission. This is handled by uni-assist in Berlin on behalf of TH Lübeck. These applications are free of charge for refugees. Applicants with a certificate of equivalence issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Cultural Affairs in Schleswig-Holstein can submit the application documents directly at TH Lübeck (not via uni-assist). Refugees without university entrance qualification can qualify for a Studienkolleg – preparatory course or the LinkPlus program.
