Biomedical Engineering is a joint program in English offered by the University of Lübeck and Technische Hochschule Lübeck since 2002.
Lübeck is one of the leading centers of Biomedical Engineering.
The Master Program of Biomedical Engineering in Lübeck is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in research and development, academia, or industry. The goal of the program is to educate students in the interdisciplinary fields of engineering and medicine.
All main areas of biomedical engineering techniques and applications, e. g. system theory, clinical application, imaging, management and elective modules, such as human biochemistry, medical technology and anaesthesia and artificial respiration, are covered. A main focus lies on imaging techniques.
The four months internship can be done either at universities or companies in Germany or abroad and is supposed to provide students with practical experience and prepare them for the Master Thesis. The results have to be presented at the student conference at the Lübeck campus taking place once a year in March.
Graduates have a wide range of job opportunities in various branches in the field of medical technology: industry, research institutions, hospitals, or controlling institutions like TÜV. In the industry these include research and development, sales, regulatory affairs and inspection services.
