Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Studies and Research for the Technology of Tomorrow
We teach and research primarily in the disciplines of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science but also work interdisciplinary e.g. in the areas design and usability.
Our range of studies includes the bachelor programs Electrical Engineering – Energy Systems and Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering – Communication Systems, Generel Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/ Software Engineering, Information Technology and Design, Computer Science and Media Application Online, IT-Security Online and Regenerative Energien Online .
In addition, we offer the master programs Applied Information Technology , Computer Science/Software Engineering for Distributed Systems and Computer Science and Media Applikations Online .
Both mentioned Computer Science and Media Applications online study programs allow professional and/or familial occupied people to study and receive a promising degree.
We are especially proud of our international exchange programs. In cooperation with the Milwaukee School of Engineering (USA), American students complete two semesters at THL. Subsequently they finish the International Studies Electrical Engineering together with the German students by studying two semesters in the USA.
The second exchange program we realize in cooperation with the East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai/China. Each Year about 40 Chinese students arrive in our department to complete the last three semesters of their bachelor program Information Technology.
Furthermore, alongside studies, the applied research is an important pillar of our department, where the Competence Center CoSA - Communication, Systems, Applications takes an outstanding role.
