We have planned the following lectures:

Niklas Beuter: Generative KI basierend auf Large Language Models
ChatGPT und CoPilot sind in aller Munde und nicht mehr weg zu denken. Doch was steckt hinter der Fassade? Durch diese und andere sogenannte Large Language Models (LLM) haben wir die Möglichkeit, uns Texte, Bilder, Musik und Videos automatisch generieren zu lassen. Das Faszinierende dabei ist, dass sich jedes dieser Modelle auf spezielle Aufgaben trimmen lässt und damit vielfältige Aufgaben in diesem Kontext bewältigt werden können. Die generierten Texte können eine Antwort auf eine Frage oder die Zusammenfassung eines Texts sein. Wir können den Modellen weiteres Wissen zur Verfügung stellen und diese damit befähigen, weitere detailliertere Aufgaben zu erfüllen. Hier stellt sich die Frage, ob eine externe Lösung wie ChatGPT der richtige Weg für Unternehmen ist, insbesondere, wenn es um eigene oder gar sensible Daten geht. Meine aktuellen Bestrebungen zielen hier nun darauf ab, eine lokale und auch ressourcenschonende Umsetzung eines LLM anzubieten, welches sowohl datenschutzkonform als auch zielgerichtet auf bestimmte Anwendungen ausgerichtet ist. Welche Hardware eignet sich am besten für solch ein System? Wie viel Strom ist für eine spezialisierte Anwendung von Nöten? Wie wichtig ist eine Anpassung des Modells an neuronale Strukturen des Gehirns? Diese Fragen möchte ich etwas näher beleuchten und aktuelle Forschung auf diesem Gebiet aufzeigen.

Jan-Philipp Schreiter: Inland Waterway Vessel Autonomy: Sensor and Communication Design
This paper proposes a novel framework for autonomous inland waterway vessel operations, using a versatile sensor platform, 5G communication technology, Nvidia Jetsonbased edge computing, and ROS2 Humble software. The framework aims to overcome the challenges of integrating autonomous technology into aging vessels, which lack reliable communication and navigation systems. The paper describes the physical and logical aspects of the communication concept, which integrates various sensors, communication protocols, and a robust IoT platform for managing real-time data. The paper also presents a prototype box that implements the communication concept in a portable and battery-powered manner, avoiding extensive integration into the ship infrastructure. The paper concludes that the proposed framework can improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of inland waterway transport, by enabling autonomous decision making and coordination among vessels and shore stations.

The talks will last approximately 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of discussion. We look forward to a lively and active participation.
