Step-by-Step Explanation
You may register online for all of our degree programs at our application portal.
Additional information on how to apply under special conditions (e.g., with a foreign educational certificate, without a school entrance qualification, etc.) can be found below.
Online Application Process
First you have to register in the application portal and go through the online application process. The Bachelor's degree programs Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Business Administration and Industrial Engineering also require a prior registration at www.hochschulstart.de.
Exception: In the Bachelor's program in Architecture, you must first take an aptitude test. You can only proceed with the online application after passing the test.
Please have your transcripts ready for the online application, as they need to be uploaded to the application portal. In non-restricted programs, you can immediately apply for online enrollment after submitting your application. Please note that only files in PDF, JPG or PNG format can be uploaded.
Further procedure
Bachelor's and Master's degree programs with restricted admission:
If more applications are received for a restricted-admission program than there are places available, a selection process will take place. After your application documents have been checked, you will be cleared for participation in the selection procedure (the application status changes to "valid").
Bachelor's degree programs with open admission:
After submitting the online application, immediate online enrollment is possible. After your enrollment documents have been checked, you will receive your study documents by mail.
Master's programs with open admission:
After your application documents have been checked, you will receive information about admission via the application portal.
You can check the current status of your application at any time on the application portal!
Admission Procedure
If there are more applications for a restricted-admission course than places available, a selection procedure will be carried out. There is no selection procedure for degree programs without admission restrictions.
In addition to general explanations concerning the selection procedure, we will provide you with an overview of the grades and waiting times for every restricted-admission program from the last two selection procedures. These may serve as a decision aid before applying for one of the degree programs.
Possible admission restrictions are based on the number of available study places (and not on the grade point average - GPA)
After deducting the quota for non-EU foreigners and the quota for second-degree students, these study places are distributed as follows:
- approx. 80% according to the average grade of the university entrance qualification and
- approx. 20% according to the waiting period.
The waiting period is based on the number of semesters that have passed since the acquisition of the university entrance qualification.
The waiting period and the grade point average are considered separately. Offsetting one with the other (in whatever way) is not possible.
Applicants are only granted one study place even if they would have qualified for a place in both categories.
Vocational training and years of service are already taken into account when calculating the waiting period / ranking. These are not grounds for applications for hardship or compensation for disadvantages. The requirements for such applications are explained in detail under the above-mentioned link.
A number of master's degree programs have a minimum grade as admission requirement. This requirement has nothing to do with admission restrictions - it still applies even if the study program is listed without admission restrictions.
Currently, no bachelor's degree program at TH Lübeck comes with a minimum grade as admission requirement.
