My Profession? My Calling. Become a Professor at TH Lübeck.

A Professorship at TH Lübeck is More Than Just a Job

For more than 50 years, Universities of Applied Sciences (HAW) have been a defining force in German higher education. Today, one in three students in Germany studies at one of over 200 HAWs. As one of the oldest of these institutions, Technische Hochschule Lübeck has a long tradition of practice-oriented learning, teaching, and research—focusing on technology, resources, and the environments we live in.

At TH Lübeck, approximately 5,000 students are supported by a dedicated team of 130 professors. To be appointed to a professorship at a University of Applied Sciences, you typically need a doctoral degree and several years of relevant professional experience outside academia. A post-doctoral qualification (habilitation) is not required. The chances of being appointed have rarely been better—TH Lübeck is undergoing a generational shift, and by 2025, nearly 20% of our professorships will be newly filled.

For these professors, their profession became their passion!
