Good teaching is our foundation

We provide our students with a high level of academic qualification; teaching, research, and transfer are always considered together when it comes to the pressing issues of the future. Exchange with society matters to us in particular: at our JuniorCampus events, even the youngest are introduced to scientific thinking.

More common ground!

Cooperation for our future

Our guiding principle is: competition is good - but cooperation is better when it comes to developing new ideas in an increasingly complex world. TH Lübeck sees itself as an innovation service provider for the regional economy, and research projects are often carried out in collaboration with companies. Today's problems are examined in order to develop technological solutions for tomorrow in close cooperation. So that together we can know more, achieve more, and pass on more.

Incredibly important - incredibly right!

  • We train the professionals of tomorrow
  • Our work connects science, business, and society
  • We play a leading role at the interface between application-oriented research, modern teaching, and active transfer to society.

Information about the professorship (FAQ)

Up to what age can I apply for a professorship?

You can apply for a professorship at any age. To become a civil servant after the age of 52, the consent of the Ministry of Finance is required (see § 48, State Budget Code of Schleswig-Holstein, (LHO)). Alternatively, a professorship can also be held under an employment contract, in which case there is no age restriction.

Are two years of professional experience sufficient to take on a professorship?

Five years of professional experience - three of which must be outside of higher education - are required upon commencement of employment. Exceptions are possible only in justified individual cases, provided that additional academic achievements are presented (see Section 61(4) HSG).

As a professor, do you have enough time for family life?

As a rule, a professorship can be easily reconciled with family life. Teaching obligations are determined in consultation with the professor so that individual wishes can be taken into account. Family-related concerns take precedence when scheduling. Apart from participation in university management, all other appointments can be arranged freely, providing a corresponding degree of flexibility.
