Internship abroad
Imagine being able to apply and expand your knowledge not only in the lecture hall, but also in an international company—that's exactly what an internship abroad offers you! It's the perfect opportunity to broaden your horizons, get to know new cultures, and gain valuable professional experience.
During your internship abroad, you will not only deepen your professional knowledge, but also improve your language skills and make international contacts that could be valuable for your future career. You will work in a company that gives you exciting insights into the working methods and culture of your host country.
Information about the Erasmus+ program and many other funding opportunities is available from the International Office. Do you need help finding an internship or preparing your application documents? Then the Career Development at TH Lübeck is your point of contact.
Insurance
International health insurance is mandatory for the entire duration of your stay abroad. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) allows you to receive medical services throughout Europe. The card is valid in all EU countries and some other European countries. For all other countries, you must purchase international health insurance. Additionally, accident and liability insurance is mandatory for Erasmus+ program interns.
Visa
You do not need a visa for an internship within Europe. Third-country nationals with a German residence permit for study purposes must apply for a work visa for other EU countries for stays longer than 90 days. For internships in a non-European country, you usually need a work visa, which you must apply for before departure. Further information can be found on the websites of the respective country's embassy.
- Erasmus+
Erasmus+ supports internships in other European countries and is open to all students who are enrolled in a regular degree program at TH Lübeck. The internship must be relevant to your studies and personal development and, if possible, even integrated into your study program. Graduate internships can also be funded. The internship can take place at any organization (except for EU institutions, bodies, and agencies). You can find companies that offer Erasmus+ internships via the portal for Erasmus+ internships developed by the Erasmus Student Network.
Information on financial support for internships in the Erasmus+ program can be found under Funding.

- IAESTE
IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) is an international and non-political organization that arranges paid and supervised internships in over 85 countries worldwide.
Internships are mainly available for students of technical and scientific subjects. However, it is also worth taking a look at the internship offers for other courses of study.
The internships are remunerated in such a way that the local cost of living is covered. The IAESTE committee of the host country provides accommodation and social support. For internships outside the EU, a travel allowance can be applied for from the DAAD.
Applications can be submitted throughout the year via www.iaeste.net. Further information can be found on the IAESTE application procedure website.
